Indonesia is one of the most prominent Islamic countries in the world, and it has a vibrant ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity. This diversity gave birth to various religious thoughts and nationalisms that developed rapidly in society. This research aims to determine the clash between lay views of Muhammadiyah ideology and three religious ideas: secularism, liberalism and pluralism. It also analyzes the ideological basis of Muhammadiyah when it is related to the implementation of fastabiqul khairat in all community life sectors because religious thought cannot be separated from all social, political, educational and economic activities in the country. This library research uses a comparative analysis method mixed with historical analysis. This research study departs from the background of several previous articles, which found that few have discussed the clash between the Muhammadiyah ideology and the three religious ideas. The research results explain several clashes between Muhammadiyah ideology and religious thought (secularism, liberalism and pluralism). Muhammadiyah views religion as an essential source of values and morality in public life, whereas secularism separates religion from public life. Liberalism emphasizes individual freedom more than Muhammadiyah, and finally, in terms of religious interpretation, the understanding of pluralism opens up space for diverse religious interpretations that may not be in line with Muhammadiyah's views. Potential conflicts can be minimized with dialogue and cooperation, and these differences can be bridged. Positive values from all parties can be adopted to achieve common goals. On the other hand, Muhammadiyah's implementation of ihlas has several similarities with the notions of secularism, liberalism and pluralism, namely commitment to goodness, all of which have the aim of creating goodness and prosperity for society, all of them emphasize the importance of tolerance and respect for differences, all of them can work together in various fields to achieve the goal together.
