Abstract

The article discusses how Muhammadiyah, an Islamic organization advocating renewal, faces new challenges and opportunities in developing arts and culture in the modern era of technological advancements. It explores how Muhammadiyah carries out the da'wah of enjoining good and forbidding evil with an inclusive and adaptive approach and how they respond to technological advancements in the context of arts and culture. Muhammadiyah views technology as a tool to expand the reach of their da'wah. By utilizing digital media and online platforms, they disseminate messages of goodness and uphold truth to a broader audience. However, Muhammadiyah also acknowledges that technology brings new challenges to developing arts and culture. The transformation in technology affects how people appreciate and express art, prompting Muhammadiyah to understand and integrate Islamic values into this digital context. Muhammadiyah remains open to innovations in arts and culture emerging through technology. They recognize technology as a powerful tool to inspire creativity and broaden the expression space for Muslim artists. However, Muhammadiyah adheres to Islamic principles in evaluating and directing the use of technology in arts and culture. They believe that technology in arts and culture should align with Islamic principles, promoting moral values, truth, and goodness. Overall, the article depicts how Muhammadiyah takes an open and wise stance towards technological advancements in developing arts and culture while maintaining its identity and Islamic values.
